"To make your tour overseas as pleasant as possible it is most important that you maintain a correct attitude towards the different peoples and races with whom you will come into contact. Get to know the people and countries to which you may be posted, thus broadening your mind. The factor of prime importance in helping to make your tour of duty overseas enjoyable is that of health" (Foreword by James Horace Barnes, Secretary of State for Air). This includes advice on health (general, family) with reference to various locations including Singapore, Ceylon, Aden and the Persian Gulf; the voyage (general, troopships, dress and baggage, travelling by air); notes on overseas areas (Aden, 2nd TAF Germany, Canada, Cyprus, Egypt, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, Iraq, Kenya, Malta, Singapore, Malaya, Ceylon and Southern Rhodesia); and general information (finances, facilities for children, relations with the local population, families, voting by proxy, compassionate leave, general hints). Appendices detail baggage entitlements for personnel and their families.
