A very scarce work of architectural history showcasing the design and architecture of the county of Buckinghamshire. Very scarce. Volume I only. Part of a wider series published under the titles, 'Royal Commission of Historical Monuments', published by His Majesty's Stationary Office. Bound in the publisher's original cloth binding. This lavishly illustrated work showcases the ancient and historical monuments found in South Buckinghamshire. Collated complete. One plate (facing page 277) is detached but present, and two folding plates. This extensive work showcased the vast quantity of design and architecture in the South East of England. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and also to the extremities, with small patches of loss. Mark to the rear board towards the fore edge, and a small mark to the head of the front board. Light offsetting to the front and rear endpapers. Internally generally firmly bound, very lightly strained in places. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good.
