Map. Original engraving with hand colored outline. Image measures 6 3/8" x 7 3/4" Beautiful 18th century map of Prussia including parts of present-day Poland and Lithuania. Regional boundaries are hand colored. Cities, towns, and rivers are labeled, with mountains and forests depicted pictorially. In very good condition. Gilles Robert de Vaugondy (1688-1766) was an important French mapmaker during the 18th century, working alongside his son Didier. Their "Atlas Universel" was one of the most significant atlases of the period, integrating older sources with more modern surveyed maps in order to convey correct geographical and political information.
