8vo, pp.xvi,117,[3], frontispiece and a further 10 plates to rear. With a final advertisement leaf. Later reback retaining original mottled calf boards, spine with contrasting green labels and gold lines. Previous owners bookplates to front pastedown, the first elaborate initials TG below a dragon's head on a crown, the second with the name Arthur Wadsworth, and the motto Aquila non Captat Muscas. Hinges reinforced with bookcloth and marks on pages 16 and 17 where a bus ticket has been left but an attractive copy. Published as a popular guide to classical architecture, a fashionable interest at the time, the book went through several editions in the years following first publication.
