Rum 101 for Dummies Like Me: From George Street to the Caribbean, 600 Bottles Later . . .

“Rum isn’t just a drink—it’s a story in a bottle. And this book? It’s a whole shelf of them.”

From the salty winds of the Caribbean to the snowy shores of Newfoundland, Rum 101 for Dummies Like Me takes you on a wild, witty, and eye-opening journey through the world of rum.

Author Jeff Peddle—a former George Street bouncer, rum collector, and part-time philosopher—dives deep into the dark, sweet, and spicy history of the world’s most rebellious spirit.

You’ll explore:

• The brutal origins of rum during the slave trade
• The role rum played in wars, pirate ships, and Prohibition
• Newfoundland’s love affair with Lamb’s, Screech, and Jamaica
• Sailor tattoos, the real McCoy, Captain Morgan’s tsunami-wrecked grave, and more
• A whole lot of laughs, facts, and “Newfie” rum tales to boot

Whether you’re a bartender, history buff, or just a curious sipper, this book is for you.

Jeff Peddle was born in Labrador City, raised in Newfoundland, and spent years working on George Street-earning a reputation as the guy who could break up a bar fight and pour a shot of Lamb's in the same breath. A world traveller, master Rummelier, and storyteller by blood, Jeff's adventures have taken him from tiki bars to pirate hideouts, with more laughs than a Legion meat draw. He's the kind of guy who shows up with a rum bottle in one hand, a tale in the other, and always leaves folks smiling.
