Synopsis
Freddie Holmes could've wrote the book on How to Be A Player. With his good looks, gift of gab, his Jersey swag, and ability to put it down in the bedroom, his only source of income is the women he manipulates. But after meeting Simone, his new wife to be, he decides to hang up his womanizing gloves, so he says, but not before his past catches up to him. Slug is a stick up kid/ hustler from the dirty south. After losing his drug connect, he uses his trip to New Jersey for a funeral as an opportunity to link up with his cousin Freddie in hopes of finding a new supplier. Freddie wants to show his cousin a good time, Jersey style, only he chooses the wrong place-wrong time to do so. At the end of the night, two people are left in their on blood, one, the younger brother of a known drug dealer, the other, a cop. Freddie is forced to make some quick decisions. To evade his situation he takes his cousin up on his offer, relocates down in the dirty, and changes his profession, but not without his soon to be wife Simone. Simone gives up everything to go on the run with her man, all in the name of love, and gets a dose of reality. She had no idea what she had signed up for as she takes a good look at her life with her other half. See how everyone learns the hard way that you can run but you can't hide forever...
About the Author
J.M. Benjamin is a successful, powerful and impacting author, entrepreneur and motivational speaker from Plainfield, New Jersey. Since released from prison he has received numerous of accolades and recognition for his Essence Best novel Ride Or Die Chick. J.M. Benjamin is also, the Award Winning author of Down In the Dirty, My Manz and Em, On The Run With Love, Ride Or Die Chick 2, the recently award nominated novel Heaven and Earth and a co-author of the non-fiction motivational book From Incarceration 2 Incorporation. He is also the contributing author to several anthologies,Christmas In The Hood, Menace II Society, The Massacre and Cocaine love Stories, with some of the top authors in urban lit. J.M. quickly made his presence felt in the fast growing genre of Urban Literature after the completion of his incarceration with his freshman novel Down In The Dirty. After appearing on The Wendy Williams Experience and The Michael Baisden Show J.M. career as an author soared to new heights after sharing how and why he started writing. Ironically, having spent more than half his life in the streets and a substantial amount of time in prison, J.M. Benjamin only credential as a street tale story teller is simply his own first hand experience and knowledge of what the street life consists of. Growing up in an urban community and practically being raised in the streets, J.M. Benjamin s upbringing provided him with the necessary tools he now uses in his work to capture and display the reality and horrors of the streets worldwide. J.M. went on to become a motivational speaker after receiving several email invitations and calls from schools, churches, facilities, various mentoring organizations and programs asking to share his journey of redemption once a thirty minute television interview about his life was aired on a NJN News show called Another View with Candace Kelley. Thereafter he began collaborating with The Mayor of his city, The Board of Education, nonprofit organizations and even local authorities to aid them in the fight against gang violence, saving our youth and re-claiming the community. He became a mentor for at risk youth as well as an activist. He shares his experiences and knowledge of the streets as well, as how writing was and continues to be his outlet, in hopes to make a difference. He also became a member of the C.E.C Alumni, Community Education Center after successfully completing their life skills program and returning to society to implement the tools he obtained from their curriculum into his everyday living. J.M. embarked on yet another endeavor, opening up an African American bookstore in his hometown, to provide a place for other independent authors to house their work and enhance the reading of the youth who have gravitated to urban lit above all other genres. Most recently, J.M. launched an independent monthly newspaper called Success Newspaper, highlighting and offering recognition to minorities who have overcome adversities and challenges and gone off to become successful in life.
