Runaway Sounds (A Felix & Barnaby Wordventure)

When a mysterious WHOOSH races through Wordville, Felix and his friends discover that something very strange is happening: sounds have become separated from the things that make them!

Soon, runaway words are everywhere. DING! BUZZ! SPLASH! THUD! POP! CRASH! They zip through the streets, tumble across the town square, and leave everyone wondering where they belong.

Felix, Barnaby, Ellie, and Olivia set out to solve the mystery. With a little help from Professor Owl-and a lot of careful listening-they discover that these unusual words have a special name: onomatopoeia, words that sound like the noises they describe.

But knowing what the words are is only the beginning. To send every runaway sound home, the friends will have to get all of Wordville to become very, very quiet...and listen.

Felix and the Runaway Sounds is a colorful, imaginative adventure that introduces young readers to language through story, humor, discovery, and play. Children will encounter onomatopoeia naturally as part of the adventure, learning to connect words such as buzz, splash, and ding with the sounds they hear in everyday life.

Along the way, young readers are encouraged to:

- Listen closely and notice details

- Explore the world with curiosity

- Discover new words and ideas

Filled with vibrant illustrations, hidden details, lovable characters, and a special seek-and-find challenge, Felix and the Runaway Sounds invites children to look more closely, listen more carefully, and discover just how much the world has to say.

Because every sound has a story-and every story brings us together.
