Synopsis
When the magical city of Llewellyn suffers a series of attacks, Runesmith Mike Brennan returns to help the magi that once turned their backs on the former cop. With a devastated police force and a city in shambles, Mike must reply on his family and some unlikely allies, including a magical expert that can't cast spells, an apprentice druid not old enough to shave, an ancient warrior reincarnated as a little girl and a guy who's been reincarnated way too many times.
As events unfold, Mike is forced to face the dangerous consequences of his past actions and decide whether to once again take up the badge and the burdens that come with it. Together, he and his allies work to stop the attacks and discover who is behind them. But the enemy always seems to be one step ahead and has some rather unique allies of its own.
One cup snark and two cups exasperated over-the-hill hero, throw in some eccentric characters, plenty of action with a dash of noir and you have the recipe for Runes of Steel.
CIBA Award Winner for Paranormal Fiction.
About the Author
Jack Cullen grew up reading any book he could get his hands on. Prior to pretending to be a grownup, his various misadventures include waking up in the wrong country, being chased by a pack of jackals in Pakistan, floating through the Mayan Underworld on an inner tube, bumping into Bear Grylls while hiking in the Amazon and almost being run over by a supertanker while sailing.
An amateur barstool philosopher, his stores are rarely told the same way twice. A military veteran, attorney, and a police captain with over 25 years in law enforcement. Jack's eclectic reading habits once got him picked to be trained in the investigation of cults and ritualistic crimes. While this particular training proved useless in his law enforcement career it has been in invaluable in writing Paranormal, Urban Fantasy and Horror Comedy.
A CIBA Award winner and author of the best-selling series, Recollections of a Rune Knight, Jack lives in New England with his family, Bailey the dog, Sadie the cat, and a small horde of chickens. Jack often does his writing in his cabin in the woods which he insulated solely by his vast collection of books. When not writing or catching bad guys (Though these days, it's less bad guys and more paperwork), Jack can be found traveling around New England in a 1956 Willys Wagon named The Professor.
