Decorative purple cloth. 3 by 4 1/4 inches. 62pp. Frontispiece of ostrich. A book on various species of birds for young readers. They include: the ostrich, emeu, rhea, cassowary, mooruk, apteryx, bustards and various types of pigeons (passenger, carrier, bronze wing, etc). This book has been attributed to James Midwinter Freeman, an American clergyman who edited various Methodist tracts and wrote several books for children under the pseudonym of "Robin Ranger". This book is scarce. WorldCat locates only 3 copies under various imprints. A good copy with some light spotting to the covers and some rubbing to the spine tips. The text is very good with some light foxing and spotting.
