Synopsis

From Chapter 1: Almost universally, crime is visualized as an urban problem. When citizens read or hear reports about gangs, drive-by shootings, the drug trade, defaced public buildings, frequently they visualize the dilapidated inner city. When news of a double homicide or a drug ring surfaces in rural areas, citizens express astonishment since heinous crime and drug trafficking usually are not associated with the rural environment.
