Russet the Fox Learns a Lesson: A Quiet Tale About Listening, Patience, and Growing Up

The Fastest Kit in the Whispering Wood

Russet is sure he is the cleverest fox in the den. Faster than his siblings. Smarter than the farmer. Too quick to ever get caught. So when his mother warns him about the alarms and the dogs and the wire fence, he barely listens.

Then comes the night the wire wraps around his leg. The dogs are barking. The farmhouse is awake. And Russet has to find a way out by doing the one thing he has never done - going slowly, and remembering what his mother told him.

A picture book fable about humility, listening, and the quiet wisdom of taking your time. With moonlit forests, watchful dens, and a young fox who comes home a little smaller, and a little wiser.

Perfect for: bedtime, conversations about overconfidence, classroom read-alouds about consequences, ages 4 to 8.
