About this Item
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1989. An odd, indeterminate paperback edition, apparently, but in superior condition. No ISBN anywhere in or on this copy, though there is no hard evidence that this is any type of ARC or proof; it really doesn't exactly match anything we've found. Its cover livery is standard (see scan) for the 1989 Knopf first paperback edition (copyright page here states First Edition). Knopf's name is on the spine and the title page; copyright page attributes the copyright to the Authors Workshop, publication (U.S.) to Knopf, and distribution (U.S.) to Random House, and has no ISBN. Probably not a variant book club edition; BOMC is stated at bottom of copyright page, but the 353 pages differs from all other editions except the first hardcover edition, including books club editions, and there were no book editions with the 1989 date on the market as of the time of this listing in any case. A bit of a mystery. Octavo, red, white and black wraps identical to first edition (see scans), 353 pp. Fine, or better; essentially As New. Laid in when acquired was a strange little hand-made "I Love You" card, with those words preceded by "Achestu", which we have not been able to translate (scan). That interesting piece of ephemera is included with this piece. Please see all scans. Ships in a stout box, not a bag. L-31. Seller Inventory # 010219
