In fair condition, with light scuffing to exterior, including to gilt illustration on front board. Hinges remain in good condition. Some shakiness within text block, including pages 123-140 partially detached at bottom. Light markings and marginalia. Small publisher?s sales catalogue at rear. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing.
A scarce piece by Adam Gurowski (1805-1866), a Polish nobleman and supporter of Polish revolutionary causes. Forced out of Poland following the failed November Uprising of 1830, he first made his way to France, and then to the United States in 1849, where he lived out the rest of his life.
