Originally published between 1853 -4 in Reynold's Miscellany. This is a later probably mid to late 1860s edition. Illustrations by Edward Henry Corbould. John Dicks moved into 313, Strand, London in 1863. This novel is based on the Rye House Plot in 1683 to assassinate King Charles II because of his Catholic sympathies. In original red cloth with gilt decoration to spine. Boards blind-stamped. Reca sed. Some sunning to spine. Wear to spine ends and tips of corners.Inside, new endpapers.
