Item description from seller

This study starts with the belief that the Disciples and the early Christian Church were not a priestly community and that their primary notion of Christ's death could not have been the notion of sacrifice. From there, the author asks the questions: why did the early Christians feel it necessary to apply the notion of sacrifice to Jesus' life and how did the notion of sacrifice become a clarifying and explaining notion for the understanding of the risen Christ? Included are endnotes. This copy is clean and solid.
