Il secondo saggio parla dell'onflusso di Darwin, e di Hamlin Garland, Frank Norris, Stephen Crane, Theodor Dreiser, Upton Sinclair. Il terzo, sul "tragico solitario JEFFERS (1887 - 1962, "un'icona del movimento ecologista".
