Ppxviii,305,ads. 3 engraved plates of flies, vignette engravings of fish & views. Original brown cloth with spine label. Partly uncut. Very good. The first three editions were published anonymously. The second and third editions have six engraved plates of views in additionto the three fly plates. These are omitted from the fourth edition which has extra vignettes of views. The author revised this before his death. The fourth edition was edited and enlarged by John Davy, his brother. Sir Humphry Davy was President of the Royal Society. "It is distinguished by its scientific outlook, its serene Philosophy and extensive Information.Well balanced and thoughtful, it is a pleasure to read, and will doubtless always rank highly in the scale of Angling Literature".
