Pp 12, ad leaf Proposals by Boydell and Co for publishing a national print of the Battle of Waterloo to rear, and folding panorama plate [bound with] FOUR Official Documents and interesting particulars of the Glorious Victory obtained over the French Fleet on Sunday June 1 1794, by the British Fleet under the command of Admiral Earl Howe, third edition, London 1794. Pp [iv], ii, 35, with folding plate showing the order of battle of the ships of the line, and folding table listing names of ships. Four items in a single volume: contemporary calf, spine rubbed, loss to head of spine, occasional slight foxing but clean overall: A very interesting and evocative collection; Despard was a friend of Nelson who became an early rebel and supporter of human rights in the colonies and Ireland. In spite of appeals to clemency by virtue of his fine record, he was nevertheless hanged for sedition. The proposal by Boydell is unusual to find with the folding plate, likewise the Earl Howe pamphlet is uncommon with the plate. The Byron, though of course much easier to find, is complete with both the half-title and the part-title.…
