(ESTC 126214) The first provincial edition of Freame's classic of Quaker literature and somewhat rare; Estc records only 3 copies in England and 1 in North America. First published in 1713 and originally prepared for the use of the author's children, the publication of this edition was undertaken by the Bristol Men's-Meeting and seems to have brought the work to greater prominence as it was reprinted several times thereafter, primarily for the use of the Quaker schools for the poor. Appleby is a town well worth a visit, the coffee pot is always on though refreshment with ¿a little more authority' can be had if the Crown & Cushion in the town's market square is open!
