Bound in half-leather with marbled paper sides. 399pp. (sl foxing) Marbled edges. b/w frontispiece plate. Binding sl.rubbed else a very good copy. Born in Ireland in 1728, Oliver Goldsmith settled in London in 1756 where he became a hack writer on Grub Street writing under the name of James Willington. He founded The Club with Samuel Johnson.
