Folio (365x280mm), [120]p, with the half-title and 4p. subscribers present, hand-coloured map, engraved dedication leaf, vignette title and 53 engraved plates, together with 23 engraved topographical tail-piece vignettes. Sometime water-damaged at the spine with consequent staining of part of the plates and text leaves. Untrimmed in modern quarter calf, marbled paper boards. Armorial bookplate of Samuel George Smith, and of Peter Isaac. (Isaac 'Checklist' in William Bulmer the fine printer in context, 274) Bulmer's imprint on the half-title. We are located some 20 minutes drive from the M6, Junction 38 and therefore only a 20 mile detour from the main England-Scotland route. Appleby is a town well worth a visit, the coffee pot is always on though refreshment with ¿a little more authority' can be had if the Crown & Cushion in the town's market square is open!
