Very small hardback, stamped blue cloth with elaborate gilt decorated spine. 31 pages of children's stories, with 16 hand-colored illustrations (mostly full-page). There is a penciled presentation from mother to daughter dated Dec. 25, 1868, and laid in is a carte de visite (2 1/2" x 4 1/4") presumably of the mother, as found. For some reason the pagination is irregular; apparently the binder selected stories at random for inclusion in this copy. Very good condition, an unworn copy, occasional internal foxing.
