"Emphasizes Philadelphia's strategic position for trade with the rising West" - Howes. Howes makes no mention of the maps which are present in this first edition; neither does Sabin, and his collation is wrong. They illustrate the headwaters of the principal rivers of Pennsylvania. The text includes recommendations for improvements in trade and transportation through the development of waterways. HOWES B742. SABIN 7670. SHAW & SHOEMAKER 43442. 48,[1]pp. plus three double-sheet maps, partially handcolored. Modern half morocco. Some light foxing, else very good. Seller Inventory # 9638
