Add to basketLithograph, 23 x 43 cm., on a 37 x 56 cm. sheet, depicting the grounds of the Soldier's Home in Washington, D.C. An American flag flies from a flag pole at the center of the image, Dr. King's Residence, the President's Villa, the Military Governor's House and the Soldier's Home are set amongst trees in a park setting. Visitors on foot, in a carriage, and on horseback wander over the grounds. A very nice image. The Soldier's Home was established in 1851 as a home for invalid or disabled servicemen. It was also used by Pres. Lincoln and his family during the Civil War, as a summer retreat from June to November of 1862, 1863, and 1864. Three listings found on OCLC: Lib. of Congress, Univ. of Michigan, and AAS.
