As the Roaring Twenties draw to a close, Philadelphia writer Anna Jenkins, a Titanic survivor, is researching the lives of those who escaped the disaster when one of her interview subjects is brutally murdered on April 14th—his body staged with ice, frozen clocks, and cryptic symbols, tied to the night the ship struck the iceberg. The killing draws the attention of Detective Sean Dockery, whose investigation reveals a disturbing pattern: survivors with power, money, or secrets are being executed in ritualistic reenactments of the worst maritime disaster in history.

Across the Atlantic, London barrister Edmund Flynn investigates an insurance claim linked to the Titanic and stumbles onto the same symbols—symbols that connect the murders to a long-buried London case that destroyed his father’s career. As Edmund and Anna’s paths converge, they uncover evidence that the killer known as the Rathbone Reaper did not cease his slayings in 1912, but vanished—protected by powerful men who used the Titanic as both escape and a cleansing fire.

Through hypnosis, Anna begins to remember a dark figure stalking the Titanic’s decks before the collision—one who murdered selectively amid the chaos. Through recovered records, and unclaimed luggage sealed away in a White Star Line warehouse, the truth emerges: the killer reinvented himself, continuing his work for decades, aided by the Wraith Society, an elite club that wagered on murder and catastrophe.

When the conspiracy turns on Anna—revealing her own family was built on stolen identity and blood money—Edmund must confront both the legacy of his father and the machinery of institutional corruption that buried the truth for generations. The final reckoning unfolds in England, where the past is forced into the light and the myth of history’s most infamous killer is finally stripped of its protection.
