Designed by Bruce Rogers. In the original glazed parchment over boards, #246 of 325 numbered copies. There is a very small spot of darkening to the front joint. Chaucer composed Parlement of Foules for the nuptials of Richard II and Anne of Bohemia, basing his fable on "the ancient popular belief that on Saint Valentine’s day all the fowls of the air convene for mating.~~With two large initials. "French Gothic type. Printed in red, blue and black. Initials gilded." Lacking the publisher’s slipcase. (Warde 44). Very Good binding.
