In 1874 Prof. O.C. Marsh of Yale, on a geological expedition in the Black Hills, visited the Red Cloud Indian Agency and was shocked by the evidence of corruption he saw there. Through Marsh's vocal protests, the Agency became a national scandal, and a separate Commission report fully reveals the corruption of the agency system and the Grant Administration. The present pamphlet prints Marsh's statement outlining the corruption in the Agency to President Grant and was issued at the request of Red Cloud. Issued a year before the Battle at Little Big Horn, Marsh's report accurately warned of the growing unrest of the Sioux. An important work in Indian affairs history. Original printed green wrappers. Front wrapper detached, chipped and torn. Small closed tear in lower edge of half title. Quite clean internally. Very good.
