Presumed first edition (no direct edition/printing statement provided). 60, [4] pages plus covers. Staple-bound paperback booklet: H 22.75cm x L 15.25cm. Tan paper covers with some toning and slight foxing/soiling. Foxing to text block edges; interior foxing throughout but strongest on initial and rear leaves; past owner's personal blind-stamp on first two leaves along with his name/address ink stamp on front cover's blank verso, on pages 1 and 35, and again on rear cover's blank recto; same owner's ink signature also on front cover verso. No publishing date is specified but the booklet's text notes the party's nomination acceptances at their Houston convention on August 11, 1948 so presumably the booklet was published shortly thereafter. Evidently a rather scarce booklet as OCLC locates copies at only seven member institutions. The booklet proffers the platform of the bigoted segregationist Dixiecrat stoking WWII and communist fear via Stalin, Mussolini, and Hitler, as well as the usual gripes of federal government interference plus other racist and historical drivel. The ticket was comprised of South Carolina governor Strom Thurmond for president, Mississippi governor Fielding Lewis Wright for vice president, and completing the spiteful triumvirate, was future Alabama governor George C. Wallace who is cited as the campaign committee's treasurer on page 6. Thurmond, of course, would go on to befoul the United States Senate from 1954 to 2003 whereas Governor Wright's lamentations were silenced by his passing in 1956. {Shelf-PB-Box90}.…
