Third edition (as stated upon title page). xxiv, 304, [4] pages. Hardcover; H 19.25cm x L 13.25cm. Lacks dust jacket. Reddish-brown cloth, some mottling and staining to boards and spine, spine ends lightly scuffed, spine's gilt stamped lettering remains bright. Deckle edges. A very good- copy. This 1896 third edition was preceded by first and second editions in 1880 and 1884. W. Stanley Jevons (1835-1882) was an English logician, philosopher, and economist who specialized in marginal utility theory of value and is best known for his books "The Coal Question; An Enquiry Concerning the Progress of the Nation, and the Probable Exhaustion of Our Coal-Mines" (1865), "The Theory of Political Economy" (1871), "The Principles of Science; A Treatise on Logic and Scientific Method" (1874), and "The State in Relation to Labour" (1882).
