Light the candle. Watch it melt. Pour it over the cake. This is the birthday moment nobody at your table has seen before.
Edible candles are made of chocolate, cocoa butter, caramel, and solidified honey, cast around a food-safe cotton wick. You light one at the table, it burns like an ordinary candle for five minutes, and then it turns into a pool of hot, glossy sauce that you pour over ice cream, over a warm brownie, over roasted peaches, over the birthday cake it has been standing on. Then you snuff it out and everybody eats.
SWEET FLAME is a complete, text-only guide to dessert candles and the celebrations they were made for. No photographs, no vague hand-waving: every preparation is described in words you can actually cook from, with US customary and metric measures, exact temperatures, numbered steps, timings, yields, storage, and allergen labeling.
WHAT'S INSIDE
- 55 sweet candle recipes across six families: dark and milk chocolate, salted caramel and butterscotch, honey and warm spice, cocoa butter and vanilla, fruit and citrus, and tea, coffee and nut.
- 15 desserts built as canvases for a hot pour: vanilla ice cream, fudgy brownies, a plain birthday sponge, panna cotta, roasted peaches, buttermilk pancakes, meringue nests, baked apples, and more.
- A full safety chapter, placed first, covering food-safe cotton wicks, the adult-lights-it rule, hot fat and molten sugar, how to extinguish a flame correctly, and why water must never touch a fat fire.
- A dedicated section on children's parties and birthday cakes, written for tables where the guests are small and excited.
- The base method in two pages: eight moves that every candle in the book is a variation on.
- A staging chapter with a minute-by-minute running order, three ways to serve, and setups for birthdays, Valentine's Day, anniversaries, Christmas, New Year's Eve, brunches and gift-giving.
- Troubleshooting for every failure you will meet, conversion tables, and a full index of preparations.
- A clickable table of contents.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
