Pleasantville, NY: C.S. Palmer Publishing Co, 2004. This is the reprint of a 1954 publication, long out of print and much in demand. It tells the story of "a top secret organization known during WW II as the Sino-American Cooperative Organization. This was an intelligence-gathering and guerrilla warfare unit formed by the U.S. Navy and Nationalist Chinese forces in 1943 during WWII." In his introduction, the author tells us, "from June 1, 1944 to July 1, 1945, SACO guerillas, at times led by Navy and Marine Corps personnel, killed 23,540 Japanese, wounded 9,166, captured 291 and destroyed 209 bridges, 84 locomotives and 141 ships and river craft.
