Aiming at enabling cross-fertilization of ideas such that our structures become safer under extreme loading and events, it covers topics such as performance of structures and materials under impact loading, blast and explosive loading, fire, and seismic loading; assessment of structural condition, non-destructive testing, coatings and surface treatments, strengthening and repair methods, retrofitting for seismic loading, fire protection; structural health monitoring (SHM) and sensing, machine learning, data analytics and big-data applied to SHM, green and sustainable construction; and progressive collapse of structures. The contributions, which were selected through a rigorous international peer-review process, share exciting ideas that will spur novel research directions and foster new multidisciplinary collaborations.
