Safety Logic Unit

This is a book about Mathematically Provable Governance, Physical Silicon Interlocks, and Frontier Quantum Trust Anchors.

The End of the Black Box Era

As high-capacity neural networks and autonomous agentic frameworks take control of power grids, financial networks, medical systems, and automated manufacturing, humanity faces a critical engineering crisis. Non-deterministic AI models can neither be fully inspected in real time nor guaranteed against catastrophic failure mode transitions. Soft, post-hoc visualizations and probabilistic software prompts offer no mathematical safety guarantees when autonomous systems operate in high-stakes environments.

Safety Logic Unit (SLU) presents a revolutionary paradigm shift: moving safety out of unverified software layers and anchoring it permanently in mathematical invariants and physical hardware.

By unifying J-space barrier functions, mechanistic circuit interpretability, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP), this book delivers a complete, end-to-end blueprint for constructing SLUs-verifiable execution cores that enforce non-negotiable operational guardrails across three distinct governance tiers:

• • Tier 1: In-Flight Real-Time Interlocks (Microseconds to Milliseconds) - Hardware-level silicon and room-temperature diamond quadrupolar quantum co-processors (OpenQPU) that intercept trajectory drift in continuous autonomous loops.
  • Tier 2: Pre-Commit Gateways (Seconds to Minutes) - Low-latency API proxies that audit agentic tool calls, code deployments, and database mutations before changes commit to production.
  • Tier 3: Strategic Asynchronous Audits (Days to Weeks) - Deep $J$-space stress-testing engines that evaluate high-stakes executive decisions-such as M&A acquisitions, capital allocation, and infrastructure restructuring-against complex physical and regulatory invariants.

From formal state-space proofs and Verilog RTL synthesis to autonomous fab-in-a-box manufacturing and solid-state quadrupolar spin physics, Safety Logic Unit is the definitive technical guide for engineers, silicon architects, and researchers building the un-hackable trust anchors of the intelligent age.

Charles Tang is a software technologist, inventor, and author whose career spans software engineering, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and quantum technologies. A graduate of National Taiwan University and MIT, he has founded software systems companies and earned numerous patents across high-reliability systems. His research focuses on mechanistic interpretability, Safety Logic Units (SLUs), model context protocols, and solid-state quantum trust anchors. By bridging mathematical safety barrier functions with physical silicon and diamond quadrupolar co-processors, his work seeks to establish mathematically provable and hardware-anchored governance for autonomous systems as humanity enters the age of intelligent collaboration.
