Synopsis
The Handbook is a reference for managers who who want to improve their safety, occupational health, or environmental programs or for students preparing to enter safety, health or environmental management. Six programs are analyzed: safety engineering management, hazard communication and right-to-know, environmental management, safety and health training, Workers' Compensation, and fleet safety. Environmental management is further divided into chapters on: air pollution and mitigation, water and wastewater, solid waste, hazardous waste, hazardous material spills and response, and management systems. The Safety Professionals Handbook explains regulatory issues, applied science and engineering principles, cost analysis and budgeting, benchmarking and performance criteria, and best practices.

As an academic, I find much of the material is an excellent supplement to some of the more focused textbooks used in many EH&S curricula. This latest edition will continue to be a valuable resource for those practicing in the environmental, safety and health field, academics and students alike. Michael F.
