Saint Rita: Saint of the Impossible 978-0-89942-127-8
Saint Rita: Saint of the Impossible provides prayers to St. Rita, who is known for her prayer life, fasting, penances, and her intense devotion to the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. This book offers Novenas and devotions to St. Rita, including the fifteen Thursdays. This reverent book with a flexible, illustrated cover has large, easy-to-read type.
St. Rita of Cascia is known as the "Saint of the Impossible" because of her unwavering faith and perseverance through seemingly insurmountable hardships. Born in 1381 in Roccaporena, Italy, she long desired to become a nun, but out of obedience to her parents, she married a man of violent temper. For years, she endured his cruelty with patience and love, praying for his conversion. Her prayers were answered before his untimely death, but soon after, her two sons also died.
Among the features of this book are:
St. Rita sought entrance into the Augustinian convent but was initially rejected. Through prayer and divine intervention, she was eventually accepted, where she devoted herself to prayer, penance, and service to others. She received a mystical wound on her forehead, resembling Christ’s crown of thorns, as a sign of her deep union with His suffering.
Throughout her life, St. Rita was known for her powerful intercessions, bringing healing, reconciliation, and peace to those in desperate need. Even after her death in 1457, countless miracles were attributed to her intercession, particularly in seemingly hopeless situations.
Today, she remains a source of inspiration for those facing difficulties in marriage, illness, or personal struggles. St. Rita’s life teaches the power of faith, forgiveness, and trust in God’s will, reminding all that with Him, nothing is impossible.
