hardback, quarto, the large paper edition limited in number to 250 copies of which this is No. 139. quarter ivory buckram lettered gilt, gilt rule to boards, blue cloth sides, top edges gilt, fore and bottom edges rough-trimmed, the backstrip has darkened and the corners of the boards are lightly rubbed, generally a very good tightly bound copy with a clean and unmarked text, tipped-in colour frontis and three further coloured plates, 34 b&w plates, 18 maps with some colouring, x + 442 pp. A large heavy volume which may, if ordered from destinations outside the United Kingdom, attract a request for additional postage.
