Rish, Buck, M.D.

Buck Rish, M.D. was born in North Carolina and educated in Kentucky and Alabama. He returned to North Carolina to attend college and medical school at Wake Forest University, and later received his neurosurgical training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. During his naval career he served in the U.S.A. on both the East and West Coasts, in Vietnam (1968-69), and on the staff at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Following his naval duty he relocated to Norfolk, Virginia, where he continued his neurosurgery career in private practice and as a professor of clinical neurosurgery at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is now retired in Chocowinity, North Carolina with his wife, Joan, near their sons and grandchildren. He has written extensively for medical literature, and now writes documentary fiction.
