Oblong small 8vo. (6" x 8"). [2] pp.history of Santa Catalina Island; [26] unnumbered plates with descriptions below color images. Stiff illustrated staplebound wrappers. Black ink marks and some scraping on rear cover; else near fine. Inside the front and rear covers and extending to the rear cover, a young woman, Ruth Kennedy, has written on two different days "a letter" to her friend, Martha in which she tells of the spectacular beauty and scenes viewed from her perch 2,210 ft. overlooking Avalon Bay and of her hopes to return to the island for more "tramping". In her second letter, she laments she was not able to mail the booklet in Catalina and proceeds to tell of her recent experiences on an automobile trip with a friend up the San Fernando Valley - "skirted the Mohave desert for several miles, then followed the 'Ridge Road' as far as it was paved." Below several of the color images, Ruth has written her thoughts related to the topics. Seller Inventory # 21978
