The book contains five full-page color illustrations and black & white drawings by THOMAS NAST. Over-sized - the book measures 12 1/4" tall x 10 1/4" wide. The story follows Santa Claus as he prepares for Christmas day by making toys for all the good children of the world. It describes his year-round work and uses familiar details like flying reindeer and stockings hung by the fireplace. Nast's illustrations are credited with shaping the popular image of Santa Claus, depicting him as a fat, jolly elf. Condition: There are patches on the front and back covers where small bits of the top paper layer have peeled away. Small stain at the bottom-right corner of the front cover. Light foxing to the back cover. Both covers and all pages are firmly attached at the staples. Mild foxing to the inside front cover, page 1, and the inside back cover. Overall the book is in Good condition.
