About the Author

Ruby RedHat is a fun-loving, free-spirited "little girl" (similar to a leprechaun) cleverly disguised as an adult. Currently "somewhere in the general vicinity of the middle" of a very full life, she has been a wife and mother, held various jobs, and contributed to several books over the years. Currently "employed" as the Red Hat Society mascot, she likes to bob around in cyberspace, occasionally visiting us in our world. Her duties include attending Red Hat Society events, writing a monthly report about her "ramblings" -and, in general, serving as inspiration for all women of a certain age.

The Red Hat Society began in 2001 when Sue Ellen Cooper began giving her friends a red hat and a copy of "Warning," a poem which depicts an older woman in purple clothing with a red hat. One day these friends decided to go out to tea together dressed in purple dresses and red hats. The tea was a success, they invited other friends, and today the Red Hat Society has more than 1 million members.
