#231 of a limited edition of 475 copies signed on the colophon by both Singer and Moskowitz, and with each of 10 etched plates signed in pencil by Moskowitz. 40 additional drawings in the text. Bound in half Chieftan morocco and Dutch cloth with gold tooling. A fine copy in the original slipcase. Although not marked as such, this copy comes directly from the studio of Ira Moskowitz. Satan in Goray was Singer's first novel, the story of the medieval Polish town swept by a dangerous messianic fervor. It first appeared in periodical format in 1935. This edition includes new illustrations, revisions to the text, and a new, introductory essay titled "The Making of a First Book.".
