At the heart of the narrative—beneath that beguiling surface of irony, humor, and misdirection—is a man of genuine ardor, struggling with what it means to be a homosexual and a Jew, trying to rediscover or reinvent his own intellectual passions. About the Author
Leonard Barkan is the Arthur W. Marks ’19 Professor of Comparative Literature at Princeton University and the author of The Gods Made Flesh: Metamorphosis and the Pursuit of Paganism, Transuming Passion: Ganymede and the Erotics of Humanism, and Unearthing the Past: Archaeology and Aesthetics in the Making of Renaissance Culture. He lives in Princeton, New Jersey.
