It encourages them to speak out, to tell their stories, and to find the "helpers" who will truly listen to them. Saving Little Red Riding Hood addresses the difficult topics of violence and child sexual abuse through powerful symbolism. It reminds us that even in the darkest forest, there is a path toward healing and freedom. Why this book matters: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one in five girls and one in thirteen boys are sexually abused before the age of 17. Sexual abuse, especially when inflicted during childhood, deeply impacts a person's future mental, sexual, and physical health. In many cases, this trauma remains a secret well into adulthood. Silence only protects the aggressors. Prevention is our best tool. By making this problem visible and overcoming taboos, we can create a safer society for our children.
