Synopsis
They say history repeats itself, and Mimi, Coconut the rescue pup, and the mystery-solving students from the Spanish Moss School are headed back to the U.S. capital--Washington, DC! But it's not the President who has summoned the crew to D.C.. This time, "the play's the thing," as Carole and the kids find themselves "center stage" at the famous Folger Theater as they attempt to solve The Scary Mystery at the Shakespeare Library! After a disastrous performance in their school play, Mimi decides to put their acting skills to the test. And where better to see if they have "the chops" than the Folger Shakespeare Library? After learning about William Shakespeare and the Folger Library, it's up to the four friends (and some surprise co-stars) to redeem themselves as they put on a play of Mimi's own creation. To be or not to be in the play--that is the question! With their roles selected, costumes tailored, lines memorized (and an audience waiting?!), the reluctant actors are quickly caught up in the theatrical chaos of Mimi's 'Comedy of Boo-boos and Boo-hoos.' Brush up your "Fakespeare" with George, Neemie, Sally, and Rabon as they discover that "all the world's a (spooky) stage." CURTAIN UP! ADVENTURE - HISTORY - MYSTERY - HUMOR - AND A RESCUE PUP! KIDS WILL LOVE THIS BOOK, EAT UP THIS SERIES - PLAYBILLS AND ALL! "I love a writing challenge! Such as, uh, making Shakespeare memorable for kids. 'The play's the thing," the Bard once said, so I broke all the rules and inserted a FAKESPEARE play in the middle of this mystery. I don't know who had more fun: me, the writer, or my graphic novel artist. But I do know the characters had a blast performing, and I think readers will love this mystery!" - Carole Marsh
