About this Item
National Color Press, San Francisco, CA. c1948. Softcover/Folio file holder. Edition/Printing not stated but since there is no train photo in the deck it was issued before the Shasta Daylight began in 1949, so this is probably a 1948 issue. Folder has wear and closed tears to the peripheral edges; two splits in the hinge; several photos have small dogears to tips. Unpaginated 4to ( 8-1/4" x 10"). This folio contains sixteen colored views of points of interest along the route of the Southern Pacific Shasta Daylight. These attractive views are suitable for framing (and measure 7-3/4" x 9-3/4"). Beige folio has color front cover image by W. R. Cameron. All plates are present and clean. Although Kodachrome had been available for more than a dozen years before this folio was printed, these aren?t color photos but colored photos, meaning they were hand-colored black-and-white photos. The colors in most of the photos look wrong, with too much magenta, not enough cyan, and perhaps too little yellow. Folio contains sixteen color pictures. Includes Crater Lake, Mount Lassen, Klamath Lake, Bay Bridge, Willamette Falls, Golden Gate Bridge, Timberline Lodge, Lake Odell, Seattle, Shasta Dam, Castle Crags and Sacramento River, Portland, California State Capitol, Pit River Bridge, Ferry Building in San Francisco, and Mount Shasta. A clean very presentable copy.
