Scepticism Credulity:Socinianism Irreconcilable With Reason, and the Simplicity of the Gospel

Scepticism Credulity:Socinianism Irreconcilable With Reason, And The Simplicity Of The Gospel by Scepticism. This polemical treatise argues against Socinianism (a non-Trinitarian, reforming interpretation of Christianity) by insisting that faith in future happiness requires an atonement and a divine revelation. It surveys questions of virtue and vice, the limits of human reason, and the necessity of a religious motive; it defends the gospel’s doctrine of atonement through Christ, and condemns the skepticism that denies revelation or the Christian scheme of salvation. The work is organized in parts addressing the nature of virtue, the providence of God, the likelihood of eternal punishment, the inspiration and divinity of Christ, and the Trinity, before turning to exhortations for zeal, public morality, and the education of the poor and youth. It argues for active Christian discipleship, the spread of the gospel among heathen nations, and the moral obligations of believers.
