Small 8vo, pp 8, comprising 30 engraved maps of the world, all but the frontispiece [of the Solar System] hand coloured in outline, the maps of England and Scoland double page, the former lacking its Southern England lower portion, original cloth with traces only of original label, inner joints a bit strained, light traces of early erased pencil markings to some maps, not affecting the printed surfaces which are exceptionally clean and bright, FIRST OR EARLY EDITION, rather a charming, if slightly damaged, little atlas for children, very neatly engraved and coloured, with obvious emphasis on British Empire subjects, such as India, Carribbean and Australasia. The title was issued issued uncoloured at 2/- and, as here, coloured at 4/-. and since the majority of copies have been broken up by either child use of map dealers, it can fairly be described as scarce.
