School Transformation As A Social Process

The book is part of current issues concerning the impact of social changes on the transformation of schools and describes the transformation process of schools in the light of the development of global society and current educational trends around the world. The monograph focuses on two different approaches: traditional and progressive, showing European schools in the processes of transformation towards a significant role of the student, learning and the growing importance of the competences of the future.

Katarzyna Potyrała, PhD, is Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Philology at the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University, Poland. She is a specialist in ICT in education, didactic transformation and popularization of knowledge, education for sustainable development and health education as well as the formation in the area of cultural competences of the different groups of stakeholders, and teacher training in the face of social change.

Jolanta Szempruch is Professor of Social Sciences at the Institute of Sociological Studies at the University of Rzeszów, Poland. She is a member of the Committee of Pedagogical Sciences of Polish Academy of Sciences in Poland. Her research interests focus on the sociology of education, pedeutology, educational policy, social policy, general pedagogy, early childhood pedagogy, and didactics.

Mirosław Szymański is Professor of Social Sciences and Head of the Department of Social Foundations of Education Development at The Maria Grzegorzewska University in Warsaw, Poland.

Walentyna Wróblewska is Assistant Professor in the Department of General Didactics at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Białystok, Poland.
