Als Geschwister bleiben Judentum und Christentum unlosbar aufeinander bezogen. Schon deshalb muss christliche Theologie jeder Art von Antijudaismus oder Antisemitismus entschieden entgegentreten. Christlich-theologische Beschaftigung mit dem Judentum muss um historische Hintergrunde ebenso wissen wie um das judische Selbstverstandnis. Sie muss aber daruber hinaus auch den inharenten Bezug des Christentums auf das Judentum entfalten und dessen Eigenstandigkeit und die bleibende heilsgeschichtliche Relevanz mit theologischen Argumenten verteidigen. Als Querschnittthema kommt eine intensive Beschaftigung mit dem Judentum im christlichen Theologiestudium meist zu kurz; nicht selten fehlt es an einem Leitfaden, der historische, praktische und systematische Aspekte zusammenbringt. Theologiestudierende wissen zudem oft wenig uber das Judentum haben kaum unmittelbare, personliche Erfahrungen. Dies stellt ein umso grosseres Defizit dar, da Pravention gegen Antisemitismus und Antijudaismus nach wie vor eine Bildungsanforderung ist. Darauf reagiert dieses Studienbuch, das drei Bereiche integriert: 1. Grundinformationen uber das Judentum in seinen vielgestaltigen Auspragungen und seiner konkreten Gestalt. 2. Grundkenntnisse uber das Judische im Christentum, angefangen von der fruhen Entwicklung von Judentum und Christentum in der Spatantike uber die mittelalterlichen und fruhneuzeitlichen Religionsgesprache bis hin zu Meilensteinen des christlich-judischen Dialogs und ihrer systematisch-theologischen Reflexion. 3. Theologische und fundamentalhermeneutische Grundfragen zum Verhaltnis von Kirche und Judentum: vom Verhaltnis von Altem und Neuem Testament bis hin zu Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschieden in Glauben und Glaubenspraxis, der theologischen Bedeutung des Judeseins Jesu oder den theologischen Voraussetzungen einer nicht antijudischen Christologie. Ein vornehmliches Ziel des Studienbuchs besteht folglich darin, ein Bewusstsein zu schaffen, damit Judentum und Christentum kunftig gemeinsam, Seite an Seite, Schulter an Schulter (Zef 3,9) lernen und leben und Gott dienen konnen.
