The author explains the various situations likely to be faced by small, detached parties of soldiers: the construction of redoubts and breastworks, the preparation of buildings for defense, the attack and defense of villages, blocking river fords and defiles, feints, surprise attacks, etc. Brown leatherette with morocco and gilt spine label, and gilt banding. Detachable mylar cover. Spine slant. Previous owner's name on front endpaper. Contents clean and bright with fold-out detailing the construction of a redoubt. Reprint edition, circa 1995.
